The goal of Core Component A is to facilitate interactions among various Projects and Cores. The CoreComponent A serves as a center of coordination and administration for all components of this ProgramProject. Specifically, the Core Component A will provide administrative service, as well as scientific inputfrom an external advisory group. The director of the Core Component A (Dr. Alexey Ryazanov) will have theoverall responsibility for the Core, and will supervise a part time administrator (Ms. Melissa Pearson). Someof the specific functions of the Core are: (1) to organize regular teleconferences to facilitate interactionsamong Project Leaders. (2) to serve as a liaison between the Project and National Institutes of Health. (3) toprepare reports and manuscripts. (4) to arrange travels for Project Leaders to attend meetings, and (5) toarrange annual meetings with the external advisory group.
