Abstract

Title: Section # 5a: Message Core: Design, Evaluation, and MethodsDirector: Joseph Cappella, Ph.D. (8% years 1-2), (17% years 3-5)Key personnel Paul Messaris, Ph.D (Investigator- 5%), Amy Leader (Research Director-75%)Project Summary: The Core will provide assistance in message design and testing to major and pilot Centerprojects, evaluate new methods for assessment of message characteristics, and advance theories of messageeffects relevant to cancer control. It will cooperate with the Annenberg National Health Communication Survey(ANHCS) to maintain an online laboratory for message testing and collaborate with cancer-related researchprojects elsewhere at Penn and around the U.S.
