This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The Flow Cytometry Core Facility is a newly organized core that is now fully functioning and provides NCV members and associates with technical and functional support for flow cytometry. There are two locations for the instrumentation controlled by the core, the BL3 facility in the Beadle Center and the flow cytometry lab in the Veterinary Basic Science building. A sister core laboratory is located in the Durham Center for Research on the University of Nebraska Medical Center Campus. The facility now consists of a FACSCalibur, four color bench top analysis instrument, a FACScan, three color bench top analysis instrument and a FACS Vantage 6 color cell sorting instrument, all from Becton Dickinson Biosciences. These instruments provide a wide range of applications for NCV investigators, including immunofluorescence, bead capture assays, DNA profiles and cell sorting. The data are collected and stored as list mode files on site in the core. All data is analyzed and returned to the investigators for their approval. In addition, in depth discussions regarding new protocol development are an ongoing process. During this year, consultations have taken place leading to new grant submissions and publication submissions. Currently there are two echnicians, one at each location to provide support and acquire data.
