This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The overall responsibilities of the Transgenic Mouse Core fall into the following four categories: a)Generation of mice-transgenic mice will be generated by both pronuclear microinjection and homologous recombination in ES cells as needed for the five initial investigators and any future investigators recruited. b)Mentoring- the initial and future project leaders will be mentored in the utilization of transgenic and gene targeted technologies. c)Experimentation- all experiments that generate and/or use transgenic/gene targeted mice will be facilitated from concept to completion. d)Utilization of mice- all genetically modified mice will be maintained in the core to facilitate and consolidate breeding, genotyping, and recordkeeping of
