This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.his Faculty Summer Fellowship involves Dr. Cameron Dorey (PI) working with Dr. Charles Wilkins (Mentor) at the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville during the Summer of 2007. This work involved construction and testing of a state-of-the-art Aerosol Fourier Transform Mass Spectrometer (AFTMS) which has been designed for analysis of single aerosol particles and aerosolized bacteria. The analysis of these aerosols has significant health consequences, as aerosols have been shown to cause lung disorders and are important vectors for disease transmission. In the project, the two collaborators will work closely together, and Dr. Dorey will receive training on the instrument and its design which will enable him to continue this collaboration at UCA after the summer fellowship.
