This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. This core supports the molecular aspects of COBRE funded stem cell studies. Gene expression and function are analyzed by real time RT-PCR (ABI 7000 Sequence detection System) for various cell populations and stages of cell cycle. Vector construction, cell transfection and phenotyping of transfected cells are supported. Other molecular methods will be added as needed. The core equipment consists of a real time RT-PCR Sequence Detection System (Applied Biosystems), a GeneAmp PCR System 2700 (Applied Biosystems), a BioRad GelDoc XR with UV Transilluminator, a NanoDrop ND-1000 spectrophotometer, a Beckman Coulter DU 640 spectrophotometer, a 20/20n luminometer, poly-acrylamide and agarose gel electrophoresis equipment, and a GenePix Professional 4200A Scanner for microarray. Services provided by the core include training on all available equipment as well as on vector construction. The core is available to all COBRE participants and no fees are charged to users.
