This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.Infrastructure: Alterations and RenovationsUsing the Year 1 one-time renovation funds we have begun construction of a BSL2+ animal facility, that is needed immediately for work by one of us (Dr. Bonney for LCMV work in vivo), and is anticipated to be required for new faculty recruits. This is a jointly funded operation by the Deans office in the College of Medicine and the COBRE funds. It will supply space with state-of-the-art equipment for the handling of mice infected with various pathogens that require special precautions. This includes a barrier facility with air-lock entrance, pass-through autoclave, microtomes, tissue culture hoods, incubators, and microscopes that are dedicated to the facility.
