This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The project aims to eliminate the comparative subcellular co-localiation studies of p55-v3 and p55-v0 antigens due to the failure at making antibodies specific for either antigens. We proposed the following specific aims:
Specific Aim 1 : To characterize the biochemical nature and subcellular location of the p55-v3 antigen.
Specific Aim 2 : To examine the serum antibody responses to p55-v3 and p55-v0 during experimental infection in rats.
Specific Aim 3 : To investigate the protective efficacy of p55-v3 in rats following active immunization with recombinant p55-v3 antigen.
