The Program Development Core (PDC) of the Center for Biodemography and Population Health has four primary aims: 1) to provide pilot funds to support innovative, interdisciplinary research focusing on questions related to population health; 2) to support promising junior faculty with interests in population health and foster their career development as interdisciplinary researchers; 3) to promote the appointment of new senior investigators to the CBPH with strong research agendas in a relevant area; 4) to coordinate use of Center research resources to optimally support and encourage collaborative, interdisciplinary research efforts among interested investigators from USC and UCLA, as such research """"""""teams"""""""" are identified through programmatic outreach by the Administrative Core. The overarching goal of the PDC is to provide oversight and coordination of Center research resources so as to optimally facilitate the generation of research evidence on issues relating to population health that can be used to support a range of grant applications for new research projects as well as leading to publications. To achieve these aims, the PDC will work with the Administrative and Research Support Core (ARC) to solicit and guide program projects, recruit and involve relevant factdty researchers, provide general data analysis support, provide and prepare data, provide appropriate research settings, and statistical expertise.
