The overall goal of the Administrative Core of the Yale Rheumatic Diseases Research Core Center(YRDRCC) will be to promote, and to facilitate existing, individual and collaborative research into therheumatic diseases at Yale. Specifically, the Administrative Core will: (1) Provide oversight on the individualresearch cores, so that they provide high quality and efficient services to investigators at Yale who performrheumatic disease-related research. (2) Provide oversight to the pilot and feasibility program so that new orestablished investigators at Yale can explore the feasibility of new studies in the rheumatic diseases, in acollaborative manner with members of the YRDRCC. Here, the goal is to encourage establishedinvestigators to develop novel and innovative initiatives in the study of rheumatic diseases, and to encouragejunior investigators to enter the field of rheumatic disease research, developing new hypotheses andresearch collaborations with established members of the YRDRCC. (3) Provide careful financialmanagement and oversight for the research cores and the pilot and feasibility program. (4) Develop andmaintain an educational program in rheumatic disease research at Yale, to promote investigation intounderstanding the biology of these diseases. (5) Provide direction by the Executive Committee that giveseffective oversight and helps coordinate Center activities. Regular meetings of the Executive committee, other meetings as necessary and regular email updates will carry out this aim. (6) Promote effectiveinterchange with the external advisors that provides yearly assessment of the Center performance and thathelps ensure effective use and distribution of Center resources.
