The UWCCC Scientific Instrumentation Facility (SIF) provides an array of commonly required scientific equipment in accessible areas. These devices include centrifuges, scintillation counters, phosphorimager, fluorimager, Class III biosafety cabinets, ice machines, and water purification units. The facility also provides support for the purchase of these shared equipment, their installation, and preventative maintenance and repair; it also coordinates repair services for all investigator-owned common laboratory instruments. SIF facilitates the relocation of personnel or laboratory equipment, coordinates all remodeling projects, and established customized laboratory facilities for new faculty by coordinating with the physical plant and engineering craft services. This shared resource coordinates installation of voice and data lines in offices and laboratories, maintains an inventory of UWCCC equipment and their usage (federally required), and facilitates the enforcement of UWCCC security, safety, and space management policies.
