The Glassware Washing Resource is comprised of four centralized glassware washing facilities serving five major research building of RPCI and all of the nine research programs. The goals of this resource are to carry out cost-efficient, quality controlled glassware washing and sterilization procedures for RPCI investigators. The following tasks are performed routinely: glassware pick-up and delivery at individual laboratories; special handling of fragile glassware; machine washing and oven drying of laboratory glassware; washing and drying of pipettes; sorting and plugging of tissue culture pipettes; special cleaning or washing of water-insoluble residues and labels; special rinsing of glassware; cleaning and sterilization of glassware and instruments (including autoclaving of materials which are specially prepared in laboratories and brought to the central resource for this purpose). This broadly utilized and long-standing services improves program efficiency while at the same time, providing obvious cost savings.
