? Pilot Projects and Mentoring Core The Pilot Projects and Mentoring (PP&M) Core provides pilot project funding for investigators undertaking innovative research to make progress toward Ending HIV/AIDS among PWUD. The Core solicits pilot project proposals from early career investigators and from more senior investigators who are new to conducting research related to Ending HIV/AIDS. The Core works to increase the diversity of investigators by encouraging those from underrepresented groups to apply for pilot funding. In addition, the Core provides an empirically-informed mentoring program that includes several components: a cross-disciplinary mentoring team; a two-tiered approach with primary and ancillary mentoring supports; structured support for mentors; and individual development plans.
The Specific Aims for the Core are: (1) Solicit, review and evaluate pilot projects; (2) Ensure mentoring and training of new investigators; and (3) Facilitate the professional success and independence of new and other investigators participating in the Core activities. The CDUHR Leadership Group will participate in developing Pilot Project RFAs and mentoring will be provided by senior CDUHR-affiliated investigators.
