The Administrative CoreThe Center Director, Prof. Leona Samson, is appointed by the MIT Vice President for Research andshe is in charge of Administrative Core with assistance from the Deputy Director, Prof. Peter Dedon, and fromthe Business Manager, Ms. Gertraud Gillen. (The appointment of Prof. Peter Dedon as Deputy Director wasapproved enthusiastically by the NIEHS.) Ms. Gillen is assisted by a fiscal officer (Ms. Kathleen Reposa) anda staff assistant (Ms. Davicia Smith). Technical assistance with computer systems and informationtechnology for the Center is provided by the Center IT Specialist, Ms. Patricia Brown. The EnvironmentalHealth and Safety Officer, Mr. Joseph Glogowski, is responsible for monitoring safety issues related toradiation, chemical and biological hazards in the Center in accord with MIT Environmental Health and Safetyguidelines.
