This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. We plan to study details of catalysis of RUBISCO by x-ray crystallography. Specifically, we plan to trap and structurally investigate the catalytic intermediates of one of the most ubiquitous enzymes in Nature: ribulose 1,5 bisphosphate carboxylase/oxygenase (RUBISCO). Myo-inositol is generated by the conversion of D-glucose-6-phosphate to L-myo-inositol-1-phosphate (via inositol-1-phosphate synthase, IPS), followed by specific dephosphorylation via inositol monophosphatase (IMPase).
