Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.We are in the process of solving the structure of an inner membrane protein for which no structural information exists to date. No close representative for this family of membrane proteins has ever been solved. We would like to solve this structure using either MAD or MIR phasing techniques. The result of this structure will be of great importance, not only to the membrane protein structural biology community, but to the scientific community in general.
