This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The original prototype PAD built by Gruner`s group was tested at CHESS at station B1 with diffraction images from aluminum wire. The test was very successful, but we only had enough flux through 150 x 900 micron aperture to achieve 10 millisecond images. The detector was at room temperature and high background noise prevented us from taking shorter exposures (along with the limited flux through the slit). This second detector is in the development stage and the Gruner group is testing the detector under X-ray exposure at the macromolecular stations taking macromolecular data.
