Abstract

This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.The deuterated water method uses the ratio of deuterium on carbons five and two (C5/C2) or three and two (C3/C2) to estimate the fraction of glucose that is derived from gluconeogenesis. The Research Resource is used to run 2H NMR spectra from samples prepared at Mayo.
