This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.Current methods for hyperpolarization require 60 - 90 minutes to prepare the sample. This delay significantly degrades the biological and clinical utility of the method since it prevents study of rapid changes or responses to interventions. Dr. Merritt has developed new approaches to rapid polarization that will be investigated with support from high-risk, high impact institution funds.
