This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Quantitative MR imaging such as T1, T2, diffusion imaging often requires repetitive acquisitions of the same image, but with varying contrast. Accuracy is attained with a steep acquisition time penalty. Reduced encoding imaging (REI) coupled with constrained reconstruction has been shown to significantly improve the acquisition time efficiency of quantitative imaging in MR diffusion tensor imaging applied to myocardial fiber orientation mapping. Due to the intrinsic over-sampling of central k-space, projection reconstruction (PR) imaging may be advantageous for quantitative imaging via REI. The goals of this proof-of-concept study are to investigate techniques for constrained reconstruction and evaluate their performance for PR-based quantitat
