This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. Keywords: Multielectrode analysis, spike train analysis, vision Abstract: We propose to use the TCS facility to assist in the analysis of spike train recordings of neurons in macaque visual cortex. The initial approach that we are evaluating is the use of Wiener kernels to model the encoding processes of individual neurons. Use of the TCS platform will allow us to increase the temporal resolution or our analyses to 1mS, which is at present is currently limited to 10mS by the time required to perform these computations on workstation-class machines. We plan to later extend these tools to the analysis of multiple neuron recordings.
