This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of this research is to study the passive fibers (such as collagen, elastin, etc.) and active fibers (such as muscles and molecular motors) using molecular dynamics. Specifically, we would like to use Open-source code softwares such as NAMD and VMD to model the stiffness of passive fibers and the force-generating properties and motion-generating properties of active fibers.
