This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. We study curea-induced conformational change of the ?-rPrP using ANS fluorescence upon excitation either at 295 nm or 385 nm. Excitation at 385 nm with emission 482 nm monitores change in the enviroment of ANS, whereas 295 nm excites tryptophan along with ANS and emission monitored at 482 nm arise both from excitation of ANS and from energy transfer from Trp.
