This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The purpose of the Cardiome Project is to develop an anatomically based and biophysically detailed mathematical model of the heart for use in research, teaching and clinical practice. The project will attempt to provide a rational basis for all aspects of heart function by integrating molecular mechanisms into continuum models of the intact heart. It is a comprehensive project involving researchers from eight unique bioengineering/physiology departments at six different institutions.
