This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.The effect of different tetrablock copolymers on lysozyme before and after heat denaturation was studied using small-angle x-ray scattering. The tetrablock copolymers studied were Tetronic 908 (T908), Tetronic 1107 (T1107) and Tetronic 1307 (T1307). Our preliminary results indicate that the effect of T908 and T1107 on lysozyme does not change no matter they are added before or after lysozyme was heat incubated, while the addition of T1307 before and after heat incubation shows a dramatic difference. The future goals would be to study the chaperoning ability of the Tetronics as a function of various Tetronic concentrations as well as explore their chaperoning ability on other proteins and compare with the chaperoning ability of triblock copolymers, the Pluronics.
