This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. One day of beamtime was devoted to optimize the parameters of the beamline vertical focusing mirror. It's been found that the horizontal focusing affects the vertical focusing; therefore we investigated different horizontal focusing configurations to find optimum conditions for vertical mirror focusing. We observed that the vertical beam size can be improved by selecting the appropriate horizontal focusing parameters such as twist and focus. We also investigated different combinations of the vertical parameter, considering there are 16 parameters available. The best focus achieved during this test was 50 micron FWHM. This beam size showed to be sufficient for the kind of experiment we are performing up to now. Additional hardware components and effort will be required to reduce this beam size down to 30 microns as this is the expected optimum performance of this device.
