This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The guinea pig is another animal model used preferentially to other models for a variety of applications. However an accurate MR atlas of the guinea pig brain is not available. In a similar fashion to our mouse brain studies, we have begun data acquisition on excised guinea pig brains using the 750MHz instrument. This requires larger rf coils (constructed by the Resource) for optimized SNR, and modifications to the standard mouse imaging protocols. Data acquisition has only recently begun.
