This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. A variety of spectroscopy studies are performed on the 500, 600 and 750 MHz instruments using more conventional spectroscopy, but drawing upon the expertise of the AMRIS associated faculty and staff the relevant AMRIS associated MR faculty and staff only are listed above. These include; studies of IA3, an aspartic proteinase inhibitor from Saccharomyces cerevisiae (shown to be intrinsically unstructured in solution; determination of the solution structure of the pH-induced monomer of dynein light chain LC8 from Drosophila; determination of the structure and dynamics of the Lantibiotic Mutacin 1140; expression, purification, and characterization of avian Thy1 from Lec1 mammalian and Tn5 insect cells; determination of the structure-activity relationships of the melanocortin tetrapeptide Ac-His-DPhe-Arg-Trp-NH2 at the mouse melanocortin receptors; and characterization of aliphatic, cyclic, and aromatic N-terminally 'capped' His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-NH2 tetrapeptides at the melanocortin receptors. It is anticipated that aspects of these studies will make use of the microcoil and HTS technologies developed in this Resource when they become mature, beoming collaborative projects.
