This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. An important part of this proposal involves collaborations of cancer related research based upon the methods developed by the Novotny group for proteomics and glycomics. The focus appears to involve problems related to development and metastasis of breast cancer. Dr. Malkas is interested in characterizing the post-translational status of the proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA) to differentiate modifications occurring between non-cancerous and cancerous forms of this protein.
