This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing theresources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject andinvestigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source,and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed isfor the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator.This project is a subcontract under Lovelace Respiratory Research Institute (LRRI, Albuquerque NM) and is focused on the development and characterization of a NHP model of SARS-CoV infection to allow rapid, reliable evaluation of therapeutics and vaccines for SARS. The sponsor of the project is NIAID. The Voss laboratory's role is virology support for this project and we have provided validated assays for live culture, Immunohistochemistry (IHC), quantitative Real Time-RT-PCR, and Western Blot for the detection and quantification of virus in tissue samples from infected Macaque or African Green monkeys. All in-life studies were performed at LRRI and approximately 120 samples were processed under this subcontract in the reporting period. The subcontract period of performance ends 01.31.08.
