This subproject is one of many research subprojects utilizing the resources provided by a Center grant funded by NIH/NCRR. The subproject and investigator (PI) may have received primary funding from another NIH source, and thus could be represented in other CRISP entries. The institution listed is for the Center, which is not necessarily the institution for the investigator. The major goal of this program is to use tasks developed in monkeys that are especially sensitive to damage in the memory system to assess patients diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI). The goal is to identify, sooner than is currently possible, those MCI patients who are candidates for developing Alzheimer's disease. If this subgroup of patients is identifiable, intervention therapies might be applied sooner when the brain is less compromised, and treatment may have more impact.
