The Minority and Health Disparities Research Center (MHDRC) Administrative Core will provideadministrative oversight and coordination for all aspects of the proposed Center. This will include: 1)providing central coordination for the Research, Research Training, and Community Engagement Cores andthe research projects; 2) allocating and managing personnel and providing fiscal and regulatory oversight;and 3) facilitating communication and coordinating interaction between the MHDRC and UAB centers andschools, Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), community partners, and with the NCMHD.The Administrative Core will be led by the MHDRC Director, Mona Foaud, MD, MPH, and the Co-Director,Edward Partridge, MD. Dr. Fouad, who reports to UAB's Vice President for Research, will have overallresponsibility for the development and operation of the proposed Center and will chair the SteeringCommittee. The Steering Committee will also include the MHDRC Co-Director, the Program Manager, CoreLeaders, and the three research project Pis. These individuals will meet monthly and set programmaticdirection for the Center, as well as exercise oversight over the projects and Cores. Additionally, four advisoryboards (the External Scientific Advisory Board, the UAB Internal Advisory Board, the Community AdvisoryBoard and the HBCU Academic Advisory Council) will provide expertise and leadership to the MHDRC andits respective Cores.
