This conference represents the major meeting of national and international investigators in the field of eucaryotic chromosome structure and function. Historically, this conference has been the site of presentation of the major breakthroughs in the field; the nucleosome model of chromatin structure, the crystal structure of the nucleosome core particle, the DNase sensitivity of active genes and identification of hypersensitive sites in gene regulatory regions were all presented at this meeting.
