The project is a conference for clinicians and faculty who practice and teach in academic health centers and affiliated sites serving large numbers of Medicaid beneficiaries. The goals of this conference are: 1) to impart to these practitioners and teachers best practices and innovations in managing the care of a Medicaid population; 2) to inform attendees about ongoing research and research results related to Medicaid managed care; and 3) to enable participants to teach the principles and practices of managing acre to future generations of practitioners. Sessions will include plenary addresses and interactive workshops. Plenary presenters include: Lewis Sandy, MD (RWJ Foundation), Diane Rowland, ScD (Kaiser Family Foundation), Robert Hurley, PhD (Virginia Commonwealth University), and Richard Baron, MD (Healthier Babies, Inc.). Conference participants will learn from these experts as well as other researchers, topic experts, leaders, and teachers at delivery sites and training programs whose experiences and studies represent best practices and training innovations. Participants will acquire tools and techniques to help address both the short term needs of providers and patients and the long-term needs of the health care system for highly trained and well-informed physicians, nurses and other caregivers.
