Specific Aims 1. To develop methods for the production and use of gene transfer vectors that are required for the study and application of gene therapy 2. To provide technical assistance and training in the use of gene transfer vectors 3. To develop and maintain cell lines, viral producer lines, packaging cell lines, transplantable target cells and vector stocks in an environment that permits use in human clinical trials Purpose The objective of the Core Laboratory is to assist P-01 investigators in providing vectors that will be useful in conducting clinical trials. The Core will function in the Program Project to produce vectors on a large scale and of appropriate purity that will permit their use in clinical trials. The work involves study of the parameters that are important to consistent, large quantity production, improving methods of transduction, developing methods to test purity, and perform these studies that provide advice that ensure the safety of the product.
