Abstract

The Shared Technology Cores in the USA and India will provide services to multiple projects of this ICEMR grant. These services include sequencing, genotyping of multiple organisms (including humans, parasites, and mosquitoes), microarray infrastructure and analysis, and microfluidic fabrication at The Center Genomic Applications (TCGA) and the University of Washington (UW).

Public Health Relevance

TO OVERALL APPLICATION: Due to the reliance of all projects on the isolation and characterization of parasites exhibiting the Accelerated Resistance to Multiple Drugs (ARMD) phenotype, genotyping facilities will be of central importance. In addition, central aims of Project 3 depend on the fabrication of microfluidic devices to assess erythrocyte deformability following Plasmodium Invasion. Lastly, mosquito transcriptomics in Project 4 and genome-wide association studies in Project 5 will require extensive microarray infrastructure provided by this core.
