The MRCE Career Development Award in Biodefense and Emerging Infectious Diseases (EID) Researchsupports intensive research and career development under the guidance of an experienced mentor, orsponsor, specializing in biodefense or EID. This program builds from our previously successful MRCEClinical and Translational Fellowship award, but prolongs the support period, and broadens eligibility toinclude individuals at the instructor and junior faculty level. This program is intended for senior post-doctoralor junior faculty (instructor to very early assistant professor level) whose intended career goals includedeveloping long-term academic research programs in the field of biodefense or EID research. Awards arelimited to investigators within Public Health Region VII (MO, IA, NE, KS) and Cleveland, OH. Preference willbe given to candidates with research plans related to the MRCE's core research themes. Awardees must beable to devote 80% of their professional effort to the program and identify a mentor with exceptionalexperience in biodefense or EID research. The award provides three consecutive 12-month budget periodsand will include funds for salary, fringe benefits, and research development costs when applicable.
