Images of the distributions of calcium and aluminum in various brain tissues are being acquired by wavelength dispersive x-ray spectrometry in a Cameca MBX microprobe. The tissues are obtained by autopsy from patients exhibiting the clinical and pathological symptoms of Alzheimer's Disease and matched controls, and from rats fed an aluminum-rich diet and controls.
