This award is made under the high performance connections portion of ANIR's "Connections to the Internet" announcement, NSF 96-64. It provides partial support for two years for a DS-3 connection to the vBNS. Applications include projects in tropical cyclone forecasting, real-time object management, spatial data distribution and support, marine environment research, simulation of abrasive waterjet-cutting, and several computer science projects. Collaborating institutions include Woods Hole Oceanographic Institutin, University of Massachusetts, Rutgers, several Federal sites, Johns Hopkins, Pittsburgh Supercomputer Center, Brown, University of Orleans, Cornell and the University of Arizona.
