This proposal fosters the development of international research and education collaboration focused on Earth and Space Science Informatics in the Americas. As United States research and educational communities broaden, international collaboration is becoming increasingly important in fulfilling scientific missions. A critical requirement for research studies is the acquisition and assimilation of a complete spectrum of global meteorological, oceanographic, and hydrological observations, currently unavailable to the North or South American geosciences communities. Establishment of South and Central American data sharing infrastructure as peers of the vibrant Unidata Internet Data Distribution (IDD) system allows western hemisphere researchers and educators to both receive data from and provide data to one another in near real-time.
This project is jointly supported by the Division of Atmospheric Sciences and the Office of International Science and Engineering.
