Dr. William van Altena, at Yale University, will organize and host the Yale Summer Workshop on Basic Astrometric Methods. The workshop, to be held in New Haven, CT from July 18-22, 2005, will provide an intensive introduction to astrometric methods. The broader purpose of the Yale Summer Workshop is to promote the education of students in a research area that is a critical part of realizing scientific gains from current and future and ground-based and space-based astronomy facilities. Additionally, it is hoped that by highlighting the importance of astrometry to the future of the field, increased attention to astrometry will result in college/university curricula.
