This award will provide training in remote sensing technology at the Institute for Technology Development Space Remote Sending Center for the PI, a cultural anthropologist at UCLA with a research interest in the agricultural techniques of the Indians living in the Peruvian Amazon. The researcher will use this expertise to develop a research project on the productive potential of small-scale indigenous agriculture and its effects on deforestation, erosion, and human settlement patterns in the humid tropics.
