A conference on `Integrating GIS and Environmental Modeling: Problems, Prospects, and Needs for Research` will be held in May, 1999. Its purpose is to provide a scientific and technical forum for improving spatio-temporal environmental modeling. The outcome of the conference will be the enhancement of predictive methods and techniques including process, simulation, stochastic, numerical, and other quantitative models. The overall goal is to integrate GIS with these other useful technologies to achieve sound environmental problem solving outcomes. The award is directed entirely to support costs associated with graduate student travel and dissemination of results.
