The International Technical Council (ITC) in maintained by the National Academy of Sciences-National Research Council, through its Commission on Engineering and Technical Systems Building Research Board. The NRC/ITC represents the United States in the International Council for Building Research, Studies, and Documentation (CIB) at the request of the U.S. Department of State. The CIB is the primary international organization of building research institutions. It is devoted to encountering and maintaining an international collaborative effort to attain more efficient and effective programs of research in the applied and fundamental areas, information exchange, documentation, and development in the field of building. This grant is for partial support of the activities of the International Technical Council. Activities to be performed include: 1. Support existing U.S. Counterpart Working Commissions to the various Working Commissions of the International Council for Building Research, Studies, and Documentation (CIB). ITC currently is chairing four technical commissions: o Building Economics o Water Supply and Drainage o Energy Conservation in the Built Environment o Controls of Building Services 2. Follow up after the 1986 CIB Triennial Congress in Washington, D.C. 3. Host U.S. Workshops and Symposium as appropriste 4. Delivery of ITC Information to Sponsors and participants 5. Program Planning.
