Funds are provided for the acquisition of a modern computer- controlled x-ray diffractometer with vacuum hot stage. The equipment will be used in research projects on texture and residual stress in thin films, on long range order in intermetallic compounds and on phase relationships and microstructures in advanced ceramics.
