Mercy College requested support from NSF to connect three of it's remote campus sites to the Internet. Mercy College will use this grant to connect its Bronx campus, White Plains campus and Yorktown campus to the Internet using a Manhattan based ISP called Panix. Mercy is a growing liberal arts college located in Westchester County, New York. It specializes in providing educational opportunities for under served populations. The remote campus sites to be served by the new Internet connections represent a current enrollment of approximately 2400 students. The campuses needs the Internet connection to be able to access information resources throughout the state, the nation and the world. The connection will benefit the faculty, staff students of this institution as well as the community in general. The award provides partial support of the projeat for two years.
