9353883 Boes The Colorado School of Mines seeks to provide a 3-week, summer residential, Young Scholars program in mathematics for 30 students entering grades 7 and 8. The. program is for American Indian middle school students. Research projects, career exploration, education goals, and ethics are an integral part of the program. The students will engage in a research project under the leadershi_p and supervision of a mentor who is a professional at AT&T Bell Labs. The program places emphasis on critical thinking, problem solving, algebraic and geometric thinking, trigonometry and physics principles in rocket construction projects, and LOGO to create American Indian designs and tessellations.
