This award provides funds to allow the PIs to continue processing data from a previously funded CD project (CALIPSO). Continuous data is being accumulated in four newly drilled and instrumented boreholes on the Soufriere Hills Volcano on the island of Montserrat. They were fortunate to have their instruments in the ground in time to capture an enormous lava dome collapse in 2003, and have been working primarily on the data from this event since then. Funds provided will be used to analyze data from these boreholes (CGPS, strainmeters, tiltmeters, seismometers) and from a funded (NSF - Geophysics) active seismic experiment (SEA - CALIPSO) that seeks to image the deep structure of the volcano.
