Geoinformatics is an emerging science that is poised to develop integrative capabilities across the broad spectrum of earth science data and tools through the use of information technology. In order for the broad community to become more knowledgeable about this emerging science opportunity, conferences that bring together data providers and data management experts is a required first step. This award provides funds to support graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, young professionals and K-12 teachers to participate in Geoinformatics 2007 Conference to be held at U.C.San Diego May 17-18, 2007. The Geoinformatics 2007 Conference provides a national platform as well as a focused opportunity for researchers from geosciences and computer science/information technology to share the latest research that impacts the future research and education advances in earth sciences.
