This U.S.-Japan Workshop on Hybrid Materials and Nanostructures will take place May 14-18, 2006 in Pacific Grove, California. The workshop is co-organized by Professor Harry R. Allcock of Pennsylvania State University and Professor Yoshiki Chujo of Kyoto University. Polymer chemists, chemical engineers, ceramic scientists and materials experts from the United States and Japan will share state-of-the-art information about the development of hybrid inorganic-organic materials targeted for nano-science and nano-technology. The workshop will identify areas for mutually beneficial research collaboration, and provide a forum to explore specific approaches for advancing such collaborations. The participation of postdoctoral researchers and graduate students will expose them to cutting-edge research ideas in their field, as well as help them to develop a network of international contacts. The workshop is jointly supported by NSFs Office of International Science and Engineering and the Division of Materials Research.
